Welcome to my official website
Andrea Viti is a respected Italian musician very much active across genres and cultures.
Born May 27, 1969 in Milan, Italy, Viti discovered rock & roll through such greats as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and King Crimson.
After his early beginnings as a drummer in metal and hard-core oriented youth bands, he focused his energy on the bass. In 1993 he was the co-founder of rock band Karma, releasing two LPs during his time with them, before joining indie-rock band Afterhours in 1997 for four albums and 10 years of sold-out tours in stadium venues, festivals and theaters.
Viti is one of the few bass players to use a 12-strings as an alternative foundation machine in addition to the usual fretless and fretted acoustic and electric basses.
Over the past 30 years he has expanded his interests and activities into classical, jazz, blues, ethnic, electronic and experimental music, also working on the design of acoustic environments and on research in early music with specific in-depth study, while keeping up a punishing schedule of hundreds of live gigs, studio sessions, TV shows, collaborations with theatre and spoken word artists, whether as a bass player, multi instrumentalist, composer or producer.
The artists he has worked with include:
Mark Lanegan, Blaine L. Reininger (Tuxedomoon), Franco Battiato, Alice, Greg Dulli, Carla Bozulich, Hugo Race, Justina Lee Brown, Simone Massaron, Denis Stern, Vladimir Demyanov, Pier Luigi Ferrari, Aco Bocina, Osvaldo di Dio, Mino Di Martino, Xabier Iriondo, Enrico Gabrielli, Sebastiano De Gennaro, Fausto Rossi, Raiz, Cristina Donà, Volwo, Tiromancino, Dorian Gray, Luca Gemma, Paolo Iafelice, Benedetta Laurà, Gianpietro Marazza, Giancarlo Onorato, Opera Nomadi, Gnola Blues Band, Andy J.Forest, Paolo Bonfanti, Morblus, Zeno de Rossi, Guido Harari, Cristina Viti, Guido Chiesa, Silvia Alfei, Claudio Sinatti, Teatro Pane e Mate.
